Half Fast Flying Adventures

A lot has happened in the last fifty years. Velcro, Ford Mustangs, iPhones, and 7FC Tri-Champs to name a few. And with those years, we've learned things... like standing at Ground Zero when an atomic bomb is detonated directly overhead isn't wise. But in 1957, the U.S. military did exactly that with several soldiers and a news reporter. They had these guys stand at Ground Zero while jets overhead detonated an atomic bomb. Below is the video of those men during the blast. If you'd like to read the article that goes with the video, click here
(Note: No one died during in the video, so it's okay for kids to watch.)

In other news, a nasty storm hit Oshkosh today, causing some damage (as far as I know, no damage to our Texan or to any of our friends' planes). Seems like Airventure gets a one of those storms every year.

Anyway, have a great--and hopefully free of nasty storms--weekend!

That was in preparation to arm our Air Defense Command jet interceptors with what would become the Genie Missile. The F-101 was eventually one of them along with the F-102 and F-106.

The idea was that you could shoot down several Soviet bombers with one shot and not kill everyone on the ground below the bombers. Thank God it never came to that.
