Half Fast Flying Adventures

Be sure to dress up your kids or dogs for Halloween!
What is a ghoul's favorite mode of transportation?
A scare plane

OK. Enough of the cheesy jokes. Brian and I hope you have a great Halloween weekend. Oh, and be sure to watch out for the extra traffic when flying this weekend. Witches and ghosts will be out en force!

I admit it. I've been slacking off a bit on the blog. The wind has been howling and I saw Old Man Winter peeking around the corner. We've even flipped on the gas fireplace a couple times. Between the weather and my writing, I sadly admit aviation has taken a back seat the past month or so. But that is temporary priority shift. I have just contracted with a publisher, and my debut novel will be coming out in early 2011. It's a sexy paranormal story, but don't worry - the heroine is a bush pilot. :)
This winter, while Brian is working away on airplane annuals, I'll be working on edits. I don't want to go through airplane withdrawal, so I'll be hanging out at the hangar as much as possible, too, playing drums on pistons and asking Brian what every tool in the big blue toolbox does (I imagine Brian's already practicing his hard-of-hearing routine).
Come spring, I plan to hit the skies with Brian (and all our friends) for all kinds of new aviation adventures. So stay warm this winter so 2011 can be the best flying year yet!
Oh, and don't worry. We'll still post to this blog at least once per week. Talk to you in a few days!

We hope you plan on coming to the Half Fast hangar in Ames! Brian and I will be hosting the second New Years Eve hangar party, and everyone is welcome. More details will come as the holiday nears, but I can say we'll start off the evening with plenty of food and finish it with a rendition of Auld Lang Syne.

Flying wires may be a critical part of old airplanes, but they can be a real pain in the butt for photo opportunities. Thank goodness for Adobe Photoshop.

It was a busy, busy but fun weekend. This Saturday we transported the Stinson to my parents' farm for storage where it will stay until we can dedicate the time to restore it with the attention it deserves. From there, I enjoyed a nice day in Galena with the ladies while Brian did guy-stuff with the fellas. It was a busy Saturday.
Sunday was another gorgeous day, and we spent it at the hangar. Jim soloed in his Bonanza. Woot, woot! While Brian was flying with Jim, Matthew and I got a bit of airplane polishing done.... and a bit of visiting with Ray, Bob, and Craig as they past through the airport. We topped off the day at Dublin Bay (my favorite Ames restaurant!).
After a fun-filled weekend of beautiful weather, airplanes, and friends, it's back to earning money so we can have more flying weekends.
Hope your weekend was just as perfect!

Sorry about the late post. Every time I tried to upload a photo, my blog would crash this week. Ugh. But things seem to be working right again. So anyway...
I was just walking Annabelle the other day and couldn't believe how quickly the trees were shedding their leaves. It leaves little doubt that fall is in the air. But, don't fret about the coming winter. Instead, take advantage of the perfect flying days fall brings us. Have you taken a flight to see the leaves change color? Or, how about over a large pumpkin patch? Or, give a farmer a fly-by to say "hi"? (Let's just assume they love the company). Get out and have some fun, and share your latest flying adventures by adding a comment. Blue skies!
