Half Fast Flying Adventures

The beautiful weather is here! I'm currently grounded on a business trip, but Brian pulled out the 450 Stearman for the first flight of the year. I asked how it went, and he said it was good to be back in the saddle.
How about you? Get any flying in lately?

Lost Emails 03/19/2010

We had some technical difficulties the past couple weeks (thanks to a psychotic Blackberry), and we lost quite a few emails... at least one of which was a website submission for more information. If that happened to be you - or if we didn't respond to an email you sent us, please resend. We apologize for the hassle and would be happy to make up for it with a cold brew.

The radiant heating system is up and running, the walls have been covered with corrugated tin, and we've hung a few posters. Just a few more odds-n-ends to finish before we shift our focus back on flying... keep your fingers crossed for a not-too-wet spring!

Spring Fever 03/10/2010

I'm anxiously awaiting sunshine, blue skies, and flying friends. Until then, I'll just hibernate and look forward to enjoying more in the 2010 flying season... More flying. More great fly-ins. More uber-cool airplanes (like the P-51 I snapped below at the Mustang Roundup). More great conversations with kindred spirits. What flying fun are you looking forward to in 2010?

The other day Sparky and I was working in the hangar, and as always the quotes from obscure movie came to be main focus of the project. Then I started to think what fictional character I would want to be (pilot of course). Would I want to be traveling mach 1 with my hair on fire in an F-14 Tomcat? Talk to me Goose….or would I want to be Ted Striker coming in to save the ill fated airline. Could I be Mad Murdock of the A-Team? Although I see myself as WWII pilot, I can’t imagine me grinding my teeth while piloting my plane thru battle. After all there is only one John Wayne. No, I see myself on the other end of the spectrum. The guy giving Stearman rides to young punks on their birthdays. Then I remembered one of my favorite characters. I want to be Jake Cutter. 1938 treasure hunting like an Indiana Jones in the south pacific. Just me, my one-eyed dog and a Grumman goose. But then again I never had the need for speed. In case you don’t know some of these characters, Google them……you’re already on the internet.
