Brian Aukes is now the latest Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) in the Iowa skies. After taking lessons like crazy with Tony Condon over the past couple months, he wrapped up his check ride with Don Wood this afternoon and immediately headed up to Taco Time to celebrate (yeah, we're not big spenders).
              Congratulations Brian!!!

We've just added a new feature to the website: The Half Fast Forum. Now it's up to you to get this new flying-oriented forum off the ground (pardon the pun). In the Forum you may post anything you'd like that in some way relates to aviation. Enjoy, and let us know if there's anything else you'd like added to this website.

The first official Iowa fly-in of 2009 turned out great, with unheard of 50-degree weather in January. Plenty of planes bucked a heck of a headwind to visit from all over central and western Iowa  to tour the museum, mingle and enjoy some cold-weather comfort foods. One brave soul soared the January skies in a very small ultralight. This photo of it was emailed to us by Dave Kalwishky and was taken by Marc Broer (thanks for sharing, guys!).
Brian and Matt flew to Greenfield in the T6, and Matt was a lucky winner of a door prize just minutes after signing in. Brian gave two thumbs up to the buffalo chili, and Matt loved how even the cupcakes had little airplanes on top (so cute!).
The consensus? Greenfield hosts a great fly-in, and we look forward to stopping there again.

    Welcome to our virtual hangar
Every flying adventure brings new places and faces.  The weather's right so we climb into a vintage taildragger to see what awaits.  Tonight, we'll have a tale to share; tomorrow is a new adventure to discover.
Put your feet up, take a swig of your favorite drink, and escape with us on some fun, sometimes strange, but always worthwhile adventures.

Brian and Rachel Aukes are aviation nuts based in Iowa. They love to fly, and when the weather keeps them on the ground, they love to talk about flying. When they aren't in the air, Brian keeps the airplanes running while Rachel keeps this website running (looks like I got the cleaner job).
